Our Evac Chair Training Course

Our courses are designed to train key members of staff who have been given responsibility by their employer to assist in the evacuation of the mobility impaired within their premises.

We will:

  • Train your staff on how to use an Evacuation Chair safely in an emergency in line with The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005

  • Ensure that your Evacuation Chairs are maintained for safe operation in line with PUWER Regulation. (Provision and Use of Works Equipment Regulations 1998).

  • Carry out onsite survey to ensure you have the correct amount and type of Evacuation chairs.

  • We also operate ‘refresher’ training for those looking to refresh their knowledge.

Overview

P.O.A. (Up to 6 delegates per course)

It is essential that when an Evacuation Chair is purchased a suitable training system is also implemented. For complete safety we advise two people are present at all times to assist and open doors on the exit routes. Our course is designed to train key members of staff who have been given responsibility by their employer to assist in the evacuation of the mobility impaired within their premises In line with The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005

Course duration (Approx. 2.5 hours)

A room for the theory will be required and a quiet staircase for the practical element of the training

(3 operators per 1 hour session to ensure safety at the top of the stairs)

The key points covered in our course are:

  • Legislation

  • Who may benefit from using an Evacuation Chair?

  • Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans?

  • Evacuation Plan (Confirmed Fire Condition, Escape Routes, Escape Signs)

  • Where is your Evac Chair located?

  • Setting up the Evac Chair

  • Correctly positioning the Evacuation Chair on the stairs and assisting in an evacuation

  • Returning the chair to its storage position

  • Summarise

  • Q/A

Each delegate completing the course will receive a certificate confirming they have received specific training and demonstrated the correct use of an Evacuation Chair.
